The Best Cordless Leaf Blower For 2020 (Unbiased Reviews)

Power tools make any job easier and more efficient to do. Having the right tools for the job ensures the chores that people already do not want to do are a bit less tedious and boring. When the job is clearing out the yard of leaves, a cordless leaf blower makes it that much more convenient and frankly even a bit of fun.

Having no wires attached to the blower makes it easily maneuverable and does not limit you from moving about. There is one possible disadvantage, however. Since the blowers are cordless, as you can imagine, it takes its power from batteries.

This adds an extra task of charging up your leaf blower every now and then, something that you do not have to worry about with a wired leaf blower. However, a good cordless leaf blower will have enough of a solid battery backup that lasts long enough to get the job done and some more!

Ideally, to get the best of a cordless leaf blower, you would want one that is strong enough to actually blow air out at an adequate rate. But keep in mind that cordless leaf blowers are seldom powerful enough to get leaves off a damp and soft surface.

They work best for dry surfaces but having said that, given the right model, you can actually get a lot done with a cordless one without losing any of the convenience. They are also environment-friendly and leaves no carbon footprint unlike the gas-powered leaf blowers out there.

We have curated a list of the best cordless leaf blowers below along with a detailed review for each so you do not have to go about hunting down and finding the ones that suit your needs the best. So, just relax and read on.

Best Cordless Leaf Blowers – Reviews

1. GreenWorks 24252 Cordless Leaf Blower

GreenWorks 24252 Cordless Leaf Blower

First up on the list is the GreenWorks 24252 Cordless leaf blower, it comes in a bright green body with a dark black nozzle that gives the machine a good contrasting look, definitely eye-catching! It comes with a 40V lithium-ion battery. There are two models of the GreenWorks leaf blower, this 24252 which comes with the battery included and another one, the 24282, which comes without a battery.

If you were to opt-in for the one with the battery included, you get quite a full package. The charger is included in the box with a 2Ah lithium battery.

There are a couple of quirks and advantages with the charger included. Apart from the 90 minutes, it takes to charge the battery, the charger will also work with any GreenWorks tool which uses a 40V battery.

This makes it easily interchangeable with any GreenWorks tool out there. You will get a decent 20 – 30 minutes of continuous blower usage from a full charge, which is a pretty decent amount from a battery that weighs only 1.84 lbs.

The battery is not the only spec you should be considering though. The airspeed is another important factor, if not the most important one, which actually dictates how well the blower actually performs.

This particular leaf blower manages to muster an airspeed of 150 mph which is quite a respectable amount of power coming from this portable blower. Overall the total package is quite a good one and you will have a good warranty coverage as well.

The battery itself comes with a limited-year warranty and the blower tool with a few-year warranty, which is not bad at all.

What we liked:

  • The interchangeable charger makes it convenient to charge other GreenWorks tools.
  • Plenty of high-tech features like battery charge level indicator and it will also notify if the battery is faulty
  • Variable speed switch so you can use just as much power you need for specific tasks
  • Environment-friendly

What we did not like:

  • No vibration dampening
  • Slightly expensive battery due to the use of lithium-ion battery over NiCad batteries

2. DEWALT DCBL770X1 Handheld Leaf Blower

DEWALT DCBL770X1 Handheld Leaf Blower

The DEWALT DCBL770X1 is another great option for buyers who are looking for a good cordless leaf blower. It comes with a 60V variable amp battery, and the battery itself is 9Ah when used at 20V and 3Ah when used on the FLEXVOLT.

You can run the motor in this leaf blower for a straight 12 minutes which is a long time when you need to use the blower for longer cleaning sessions. The airspeed is also very respectable, coming in at 129 mph and can be increased to a whopping 175 mph by attaching a flat concentrator nozzle that it comes with.

As for the design and ease of use, the blower is quite comfortable to use given its ergonomic design and weight of 9.8 Lbs. You will also have the option to control the airspeed of the blower just like our previous air blower. Which ensures that you do not use unnecessary power when cleaning out small debris.

The trigger also comes with a lock mechanism. This prevents the blower from accidentally turning on and wasting the battery when it is not in use. There are a couple of improvements we would like to suggest though.

The blower is primarily designed for right-handers with the air intake on the right side as well. Which means if you were to use the blower left-handed, there is a possibility that your pants could get sucked into the air intake causing the air flow to be restricted somewhat.

Nonetheless, this really isn’t an issue and nothing that can’t be fixed just being a bit mindful about it. The build quality is top-notch and design is also quite attractive. A pretty good leaf blower for the price.

What we liked:

  • Lightweight leaf blower makes it less strenuous to use
  • Long continues usage rated for 12 minutes
  • Very good airspeed, especially with the concentrator nozzle attached
  • Lock mechanism available to prevent accidental triggers
  • Powerful 60V battery
  • Low noise
  • Long lasting battery

What we did not like:

  • Slightly higher charging time
  • It takes a little bit longer to ramp up when you completely press down on the trigger

The WORX WG545.4 Blower/Sweeper is a stylish and portable cordless leaf blower and is designed quite ergonomically which lets it be used outdoors very seamlessly. It comes with a 20V battery rated at 4Ah.

The 4Ah battery gives it double the runtime while also providing a respectable 130 mph of airspeed when in use. The size and the design of the overall motor and the battery makes this little champ perfect for cleaning out patios, decks, and workshops.

You do not need a heavy-duty blower to clean small nicks and crannies here and there, rather a small and light, yet powerful blower will do the just fine without it being overkill for the job. The weight will not be posing any issue either as the blower is under 4 Lbs.

The blower is well-designed with a solid build. The machine has a good finishing to it and with one touch, you can feel all the good materials used throughout the product. 5. BLACK+DECKER LSW36B Sweeper/Blower

Another solid offering from BLACK+DECKER, the LSW36B is a lightweight yet quite a powerful blower and comes in the same industrial orange and black look. The battery that it comes with is a fairly decent 40V and a long-lasting one.

It can be interchanged with a 36V battery as well, giving it quite a bit of flexibility. It will give you about 25 minutes of continuous usage which should be enough for a good cleaning session.

Keep in mind that the blower is recommended not to be used when the battery is below 20%. You don’t have to be guessing the charge level of the battery though. The blower comes with LEDs that tell you the charge level of the battery.

As for the power of the blower, it is capable of moving air at 120 mph, which is on par with other cordless blowers out there. You also have good control option on the blower as well. It comes with 6 blowers setting which lets you choose the power that is to be delivered.

Smartly managing the power level can also increase the life of your battery as well. Not that you have to worry too much about the life span of your battery as the blower comes with a few-year manufacturer warranty.

For the tough debris, the blower comes with a built-in scraper so you can get rid of the dust and grime that is putting up a bit of a fight.

Overall, we feel like the BLACK+DECKER LSW36B is a good value for the price, especially the packaging, which is quite full featured. It comes with the blower itself, the battery and the charger. You can buy the model without a battery and buy it separately.

But buying the unit with the included battery is a better value and saves you around $20 from the purchase.

What we liked:

  • Cordless and lightweight
  • Interchangeable battery specs; 36V and 40V
  • Low noise
  • Battery level indicator
  • Built-in scraper

What we did not like:

  • Limiting on grassy surfaces
  • There is no dual voltage option – works with 120V AC power current

6. DEWALT DCBL720P1 Brushless Leaf Blower

DEWALT DCBL720P1 Brushless Leaf Blower

The DEWALT DCB720P1, apart from looking very stylish and futuristic with its almost long submarine looking shape, comes with a brushless motor that makes the motor more durable and longer lasting.

DEWALT is known for making tools that last and can get the job done, given you are using the right tool for the job. You can use this leaf blower to easily get almost any job done around the house all without it being too much of a hassle as it is cordless and not that heavy either.

Don’t be fooled by the size though. This small and efficient blower is capable of outputting air 90 mph and goes up to 129 mph with its FLEXVOLT technology. A very respectable airspeed given its size. It’s loaded with some pretty good design quirks as well. The first being the axel design which helps you get the most of the motor and the maximum possible air output.

The ease of use is also what sets it apart. All there is to be done is charge up the battery and then simply connect the blower tube and get to work. Speaking of the battery, the DEWALT DCB720P1 comes with a 20V 5Ah battery.

You can also control the speed of the air, which as we mentioned increases the longevity of your battery by making sure it’s not always running at full throttle unnecessarily. We quite like the DEWALT DCB720P1 given how lightweight and portable it is and still manages to pack a punch.

What we liked:

  • Small, lightweight and portable

7. EGO Power+ 480 CFM Cordless Blower

EGO Power+ 480 CFM Cordless Blower

The EGO Power+ 480 CFM cordless blower is one of the most compact cordless leaf blowers out there. The design and color scheme is also very understated, with its mostly grey and black colors with slight tasteful touches of green accent gives it a professional look.

The blower’s dimensions measure in at 8” X 6.7” X 35.8” and weighs in at just over 5 Lbs. What should really catch your eye though is the 5-year tool warranty you get when purchasing the EGO Power+ 480 CFM from an authorized seller. In addition, you also get a 3-year battery kit warranty, given you purchase it from an authorized seller.

Speaking of the batter, it is a 56V lithium-ion battery capable of outputting 2Ah or 2.5Ah. The battery drives a brushless motor which moves air at 92 mph, which we feel like is plenty of power to get most of the household work done with ease.

This blower is all about adequate power and convenience in a small and easy form factor. One additional point of convenience just happens to be that the blower uses an interchangeable battery system, which can be used with other EGO+ products

The blower tube of the EGO Power+ 480 CFM is wide-mouthed, which gives it a larger coverage area. Coupled that with a 3-stage power selection, you can set the blower to output the right amount of air for the specific job.

There are three settings, high, medium and low. At a low setting, you can expect the blower to run for 1 hour. For medium and high setting, the blower runs for 18 and 10 minutes respectively.

What we liked:

  • Light and portable
  • Understated professional color scheme
  • Long runtime on low setting; 1 hour of use
  • 5-year tool warranty and 3 years for the battery kit
  • Battery charge level indicator

What we did not like:

  • The built-in fan causes a bit of noise while keeping the battery cool
  • Does not come with a strap included in the box despite the fact that it has a strap slot
  • Battery life is short for large areas and the prices of additional batteries could be a little on the expensive side

Makita DUB182Z 18V Cordless Leaf Blower

Makita has long been a trusted brand when it comes to tools. This Japanese company has been around for a long time and has garnered quite a reputation for producing high-quality hardware since then and the DUB182Z 18V Cordless Leaf Blower is no exception.

The product’s dimensions come in at 12.7” X 7.2” X 7.2” and weighs only a mere 3 lbs. The lightweight and the portability of the blower is what really makes it stand out. You will find 3 speed setting for the motor; high, medium and low.

The battery is an 18V lithium-ion unit which allows for 12 minutes of continuous use on a single charge at high speeds and 25 and 75 minutes of use on medium and low settings respectively. The motor is capable of outputting air at 91 CFM and it also has variable RPM (Rotations per Minute), allowing it go from 0 to 18000 RPMs.

The design of the overall product was very ergonomic as well, which goes to show the expertise Makita has gained over its years of experience in making tools and other hardware products. The handle is rubberized which gives you a proper grip of the blower and also makes it comfortable to hold for those long cleaning sessions.

One point that we did not appreciate so much is that the battery and charger are to be brought separately and does not come in the box. Nonetheless, the Makita DUB182Z 18V Cordless Leaf Blower is well designed, ergonomic and a fairly powerful product perfect for small jobs around the house.

What we like:

  • Reliable brand name
  • Easy and comfortable to use design
  • Comes with a 3-year warranty

What we did not like:

  • Battery and charger sold separately
